Social Justice & gender mainstreaming

SWATI has set its value system and working procedures for strengthening social justice, gender mainstreaming and united villagers for a peace full living. SWATI has been giving most priority to gender mainstreaming in its thought and work process. Gender integration cuts across all the activities and programmes and as well as strategic intervention of the organization. SWATI has designed many programmes to develop the skills and capacity of women and empowerment of women. SWATI has formed many Women SHGs, given skill development trainings, and initiated income generation programmes for women, initiated group funds, thrift and credit for economic empowerment of women. It is worth to mention that in formation of community based organizations women are represented not only as members but also as office bearer and decision making members.

ANTARANGA has well defined objectives to organize and bring youth of deferent cultural and religious identities to a common plat form, provide the youth with a larger exposure and broader understanding on reason of economic and social marginalization, help develop religious tolerance through wider exposure to appropriate literature, develop leadership skills to strengthen secular democratic principles and to analyse the status and role of girls and women and to concertize them to take on constructive roles in nation building. SWATI has formed 28 ANTARANGA youth clubs in 28 villages, given orientation and capacity building trainings to youth on secularism, peace and harmony, established community library, organized street plays through youth clubs trained by Natya Chetana, observed national days like Earth Day, Environment Day, Labour Day etc. through youth clubs and initiated sports events and tournaments.

End all violence against women
SWATI has taken the charge of district convener of WE CAN campaign for Kondhamal district and organized district level campaigns on prevention of domestic violence against women with the support of AAINA. During this campaign 2000 change makers have been motivated to end all violence against women. SWATI has organized street corner meetings, created awareness through posters, leaflets and handouts, oriented villagers on women right and women atrocity laws, involved school and college students in the campaign. Apart from creation of change makers who take oath to change themselves from within connectors have been selected to create linkage among the change makers.
